Below is a picture of the John Hygema Barn located in Wakarusa, Indiana. The photo was taken in 1912 and the barn still stands today. Though it does not bare the Hygema name any more it is still pretty much the same.
Romky Haitjema immigrated to the United States, from the Netherlands in approximately 1850. It appears that he changed the spelling of his name to Hygema during the immigration process. Information on this web site primarily involves his descendants, however, any information from any other family member either Hygema or Haitjema would be greatly appreciated. Please forward the information to the web master.
